EKG Lab

The purpose of this lab is to obtain the graphical representation of the electrical activity of the heart over a period of time, learning to read the different wave forms and learning how to determine the heart rate.

The first step in carrying out the lab was to connect the LabQuest to the computer and open the LabQuest App. Then, the LabQuest was connected to the EKG Sensor. The participant being monitored cleans their arms off with rubbing alcohol then attaches the electrode tabs and start collecting data using the LabQuest App.

The data collected consisted of the P-R, QRS, Q-T and R-R intervals, along with the heart rate (bpm).

The conclusion based of the collected data is that the participant had a heart rate of 76.54 bpm.

Analysis Question 1:

Ventricular depolarization proceeds from left to right because the R wave spikes up and the T wave is to the right of the R wave. The tracing from Part Two confirms this answer because it shows that the participant has a normal heart rate.
